Workshop Goals

Purpose of Workshop
Introduce teachers to web 2.0 apps that permit the sharing of multimedia and communicating with multimedia. Fair use, copyright, and creative commons will be covered in relation to multimedia. Virtual field trips, collaborative learning objects, and mobile blogging are also introduced.

Outcomes of Workshop:
Participants will:
- Create accounts & use web 2.0 image sharing and mobile blogging applications
- Understand how web 2.0 technology can connect to the social world
- Begin to understand the impact of technology literacy on student success
- Understand selecting resources (web 2.0 apps) involves trade-offs involving availability, cost, desirability, and constraints
- Understand basic Fair Use, Copyright, & Creative Commons licensing
- Be introduced to Design Process and how it can be applied to non-technical areas
- Demonstrate use of digital devices to capture images & upload to web 2.0 apps
- Define & explore Collaborative Learning Objects (CLO)
- Understand Virtual Field Trip concept & how to use in classroom
- Define & demonstrate mobile blogging

Introduction
Participants will take time to reflect on their technology
implementations and experiences occurring after Workshop 1 & 2. The agenda and focus of the day will be presented. Google talk will be introduced and used for Activity 1.

Create accounts and understand how to use web 2.0 image sharing technology

What is a VFT and how can they be used in the classroom. What is the Design Process and how can it be applied to non-technical subjects.

Luncheon Speakers Meet two high school teachers which come from two economically different schools and find out how they overcome the challenges of implementing technology with their students.

Introduction of Collaborative Learning Objects (CLOs)
What is a CLO and why create them. Designate a topic for VFT.

Capturing & Uploading Images to Flickr
Participants use multiple digital devices to capture images and upload them to web 2.0 image sharing application.

Mobile Blogging & Utterli
What is mobile blogging & how do you mobile blog? Security & the internet.

Closing & Homework
The closing includes a summary, homework, and highlight of Day 2 Summer Institute.
